SWF shows 500kg chain hoist with inverter

SWF has shown a prototype of a 500kg-capacity frequency-inverter controlled chain hoist at the CeMAT show in Hanover. The SKB prototype, shown in the livery of German vacuum lifting specialists J. Schmalz, is the furthest development of a new generation of chain hoists launched at the show. This range is expected to launch in the market next year.

Currently in production in the SKC range are hoists with maximum lifting capacities of 500kg, 1t and 2t. There are two 500kg models: an extra-high lift model (maximum lifting height: 50m), and a model with lifting speeds that are twice as fast (up to 16m/m) and maximum 30m height of lift. Both are ISO M5 duty. The 1t single-fall model has a 30m height of lift, maximum speed of 8m/min and ISO M3 duty. There is also a 2t double-fall model with M3 duty and lifting speeds half the 1t model.

The inverter-controlled hoists are roughly double the price of the standard contactor-controlled hoists, and estimated to be 30% to 40% more for the future smaller-capacity units.
