The dutch manufacturer of steel mesh reinforcement van Merksteijn has been counting on reliable hoisting technology by the Mannheim based company SWF Krantechnik for many decades. This cooperation is a result of the partnership between the dutch crane specialist AD. A. Klein and van Merksteijn which exists since 1960. Klein has designed and installed about 75 cranes with SWF hoists for van Merksteijn.
Recently four double girder overhead cranes in box girder design were delivered to the Almelo based company. For a span width of 28,8 meters two hoists per crane girder, the electric wire rope hoists NOVA with an ultimate load of 10 tons, ensure the safe transportation of the steel bars, which are wound up to coils as part of the production line. This happens in 4 adjoining sectors with a lenghth of 150 meters each.

The steel bars are 14 meters long and 50 mm wide and they are moved through a magnetic dilatorily traverse from Truninger. The control unit is completely integrated into the four crane’s and works via remote control. The crane driver can monitor on a digital display which magnet or group of magnets has picked up a load.
Modern frequency inverter control units ensure a stepless trolley and crane drive so that the swaying of the loads is minimized. The upper trolley speed is 32 m / min, the upper crane speed 100 m / min – both stepless. The hoisting speed was designed for 10 m / min.
An accessible platform was affixed to each crane bridge for safe inspection and maintenance works.
