The Zurich lake police ensure safety and order with their boats on the 89 square kilometre large Lake Zurich. Just like their colleagues on land they have to inspect their vehicles from time to time. For this the officers use a semi gantry crane to lift the boats out of the water. The Swiss crane constructing specialist Hausherr Kranservice from Ottenbach has just shortly delivered the necessary crane.
After intensive planning by the Zurich building department, the order for this unusual crane was given to Hausherr. An already existing crane was to be replaced by the new one but the crane runway was to be included without changes. Structural changes on the adjoining building were not possible. The demands also included the increasing of the ultimate load from 6 to 8 tons. The hoisting height had to be heightened by minimum 50 mm compared to the old crane and the approach dimensions had to be bettered by 500 mm.

During construction time the search for millimetres started in order to meet the requirements. Hausherr decided to use hoists and trolleys by the Mannheim based company SWF Krantechnik. The electric wire rope hoist NOVA offered the best dimensions in construction and approach distance for this project. Thereby the hoisting height was increased by even 75 mm.
The crane specialist from Ottenbach equipped the semi gantry crane with a span width of 7,9 meters and a remote control system with LCD load display in pendant. In order to move the high-quality boats in a save way on the hook, frequency inverter control technology ensures stepless trolley and crane drive. This minimizes the swaying of the loads.
