The water brigade of the auxiliary fire brigade in Walding, Austria, was able to induct a new space-saving storage system for their boats in their newly opened fire station. The project was designed and realised by some of the brigade’s comrades and the materials handling and plant engineering company Ingenia Krantechnik GmbH from St. Florian. The light-crane system was delivered by the Mannheim based hoisting specialist SWF Krantechnik GmbH.
A very flexible sliding shelf-system optimizes the available storage space. It is possible to store up to ten “Holzzillen”, small wooden boats, and one working boat which is used to transport people and equipment in high water situations along the Danube. This working boat also offers the possibility to evacuate animals from cut off farms through an opening in the prow. The fire brigade Walding is organised in the emergency aid service with this special boat.
With the sliding shelves on both sides of the boathouse in a “drawer-system” and with the help of the light-crane system ProfileMaster, it is possible to get the “Zillen” out in an emergency fast and without the need of many helping hands. The lower boats are stored on independent trolleys. The advantage in comparison to fork lifts is the extremely little space that is necessary in width in the storage room as there is no room for manoeuvres needed when using the light-crane system for loading and unloading. Through the drawers of the flexible shelf it is also possible to unload exactly the one boat needed, and therefore it is not necessary to unload from bottom to top any longer.

The light-crane system with a span-width of 5,3 meters can be used in any position of the room along the 7 meters long crane runway. An electric chain hoist SKB by SWF Krantechnik with an ultimate load of 500 kg does the hoisting work. The hoist’s supply with 400 V is secured by an in the profile integrated flat-cable power supply. Both the trolley and crane drive are possible through the pulling or pushing of the attached loads. The SWF electric chain hoist can be moved in a two-step hoisting speed of 8 m/min and 2 m/min. The hoist comes with an emergency stop button on the control switch as standard for the safety of the user.
The light-crane system ProfileMaster was installed and programmed by two Ingenia Krantechnik employees in only one day.
With its manifold profiles, curves, turnouts and rotary sprays the system offers very flexible structuring designs. Large span widths are both as single girder and double girder versions possible. Concerted and pre-assembled components allow for short assembly times and low costs. The optimized overhead suspension technique needs fewer fixations to the ceiling.
The robust light-crane system ProfileMaster is completed by the electric chain hoists type SK by SWF Krantechnik. The user can handle loads from 125 kg to 2.000 kg. In general electric chain hoists from Mannheim are available with ultimate loads up to 5.000 kg. The hoists are available either as push-trolley or electric trolley. It is also possible to use electric trolleys for the main girders of the single- or double-girder version for crane travel.
